Fife Avenue was named for the Fife family. Dr. George Fife, had a medical practice in San Francisco. He and his wife spent summers in Palo Alto at 908 Boyce Avenue. That house was destroyed by fire in 1939.

Fulton Street was named for a noted Reno, Nevada resident, Robert Lardin Fulton, author of The Epic of the Overland, who purchased property in Palo Alto. It is commonly referred to as "Christmas Tree Lane" since 1940 when lighted trees and decorations first were displayed.
