The following is from the Historic Buildings Inventory as revised in 1985:
A small Spanish Colonial Revival house with one window in the blank wall facing the street. The building exhibits careful scaling to create a strong visual impact.
The house is a skillfully–designed example of Spanish Colonial Revival styling, produced by one the city's outstanding builders. Douglas M. and Catherine Whittemore occupied the house in 1932 and there have been no other owners. Whittemore was on the faculties of Menlo College and San Jose City College, and also worked in the 'forties in the Palo Alto main post office.
