Welcome to our award winning website! On May 21, 2022, the Santa Clara County–wide Historic Resources held their first ever Preservation Awards event at the San Jose History Park. Sixteen groups and individuals were recognized for their successful achievements and we were one of the honorees!  Thank you HRB and SCCPA!

PAST Heritage was formed in 1987 to plan and host the 1988 California Preservation Foundation Conference held at Palo Alto and Stanford. The conference committee realized that their work could continue and grow in its scope to become a valued asset to the local area. It is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the architectural and other physical heritage of Palo Alto and Stanford.

From 1988 to 2012, PAST hosted a Holiday House Tour, offering docent–guided visits of outstanding homes in a different selected neighborhood each year. This is a tradition that we hope to continue in the future.

In May we join with the National Trust for Historic Preservation in celebrating Preservation Month to showcase our heritage with guided neighborhood tours. The event culminates with our Awards Ceremony, at which we recognize the latest additions to our centennial buildings with a brass plaque and honor notable local preservation achievements.

PAST Heritage has developed several self-guided walking tours of Palo Alto's architecturally and historically prominent areas, and can help arrange historic tours of the Stanford campus. Saturday morning docent–led walks in the Spring and Fall are a good way to get some fresh air and a fresh perspective of Palo Alto.
