The following is from the Historic Buildings Inventory as revised in 1985:
The void-and-solid play of this boldly proportioned two-story, clapboard Colonial Revival house is topped by anoverscaled sunburst motif.
This is a simple but emphatically sculptural design. The house was built for Mr. and Mrs. Alva L. Jewett, long-time operator of the Palo Alto Taxi Co. The Jewetts owned the house until 1952. Later owners included Jerome S. Barth, 1956-64. The present owners [Richard and Barbara Kurth] acquired the property in the mid-1970s.
