The Sea Scout Base has been restorated for use by the Environmental Volunteers. The thoughtful restoratiton and re–purposing of this unique structure earned it a 2012 PAST Preservation Award. The Baylands location is perfect for integration into the EV's educational programs. A grand re-opening was held in July 2012.

The Palo Alto Historical Association presented a program in celebration of the 100th birthday of the Sea Scouts. A DVD of the program is available at the Guy Miller Archives of the Palo Alto Historical Association located in Room K–7 at the Cubberley Community Center, 4000 Middlefield Road.
This building was dedicated on May 30, 1941 and is a Category 1 on the Historic Buildings Inventory. The architect was Birge Clark.
