The following is from the Historic Buildings Inventory as revised in 1985:
This noncommittal street front of this L-shaped Spanish Colonial Revival building hints of secluded gardens and spatial sculpture within.
This is a fine example of the courtyard-format for the Spanish Colonial Revival house. Walter G. Kleinschmidt, Secreatry–Treasurer for Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company and his wife Margot were the owners to 1935, followed by Harlan Smith (1936-39), Ransom M. and Dorothy E. Cook (1941-72), and Mark and Mary Dowley.
