 951 Bryant Street

Professorville Historic District

Built in 1899

Designed by A. B. Clark and built as a rental by Guido Marx. It was on the 2003 Holiday House Tour. The first renters were Lydia Mitchell and her son, J. Pierce, who was on the City Council and served as mayor. Mitchell Park is named for him. Lydia Mitchell was the first director of the Palo Alto Red Cross and Mitchell Lane is named for her.

Another prominent renter was Dr. Thomas Williams who ran his medical practice from this house from 1904 until 1929.
